METROPOLIS – A woman was recently arrested after meth and drug paraphernalia were found following a traffic stop in Metropolis.

Metropolis Police say after stopping the vehicle for improper lane usage, the driver said he was lighting a cigarette and driving with his knees. He could not provide proof of insurance.

As police were issuing a citation, a Metropolis K9 conducted a free air search around the vehicle and alerted several times. A search found that 44-year-old Buffy J. Parker of Metropolis had in her purse four baggies containing methamphetamine as well as drug paraphernalia.

Parker was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The driver was cited and released for Operation of an Uninsured Motor Vehicle.
