WALTONVILLE – A Sandoval man is facing felony charges after being involved in a chase where he crashed head-on into a Christopher Police squad vehicle early Tuesday morning.

Shortly after midnight, Christopher Police responded to help Sesser Police in a vehicle pursuit that started in Sesser. Fifty-four-year-old Scott T. Danaha was driving the suspect vehicle and fled at a high rate of speed going north on Illinois 148 into Waltonville where he turned off 148 onto Hirons Street. Danaha made a sudden U-turn and intentionally drove toward a Christopher Police squad vehicle, striking it head-on. The collision caused significant damage to both vehicles.

Officers deployed tasers to take Danaha into custody. He was taken to a local hospital for evaluation and later released to the custody of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

The Christopher officer involved was also treated at a local hospital and fortunately released with no major injuries.

Danaha is charged with Aggravated Fleeing/Attempting to Elude a Peace Officer (Causing Bodily Injury), Reckless Driving and Aggravated Battery to a Peace Officer (Resulting in Great Bodily Harm).
