“Products made from cork like wine stoppers, flooring, insulation, and fashion items can be renewable and sustainable. The production of cork has a low carbon footprint compared to many alternatives, such as synthetic materials. Cork is biodegradable, recyclable, and non-toxic, unlike many plastic-based products. It requires minimal energy for production, and it’s a product that doesn’t contribute significantly to pollution or waste,” said Kimberly Rohling.

University of Illinois Extension provides equal opportunities in programs and employment. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate in programming, please contact Kim Rohling at kimrohli@illinois.edu. Early requests are strongly encouraged to allow sufficient time to meet your access needs.
