CARBONDALE – A Carbondale man died in a weather-related crash Monday afternoon on Giant City Road south of the  East Pleasant Hill Road intersection in Carbondale.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says around 5:30 p.m., deputies along with the Jackson County Ambulance Service responded to the scene.

They found that 66-year-old Rex Aldridge was driving his pickup south on Giant City Road and had crossed a bridge that was iced over due to weather conditions.

The pickup skidded off the roadway into a ditch. Aldridge was ejected from the pickup during the crash. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries. He later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The sheriff’s office continues to investigate.
