CENTRALIA – Police in Centralia are investigating a late Halloween night shooting that caused damage to a vehicle.
Around 11:10 p.m. the Central City Police Department responded to a report about a woman who had been shot in the face. Centralia Police assisted with the call.
Officers made contact with the victim. She was not shot but received a small cut due to her driver’s side window being shot out. Officers saw five bullet holes around the driver’s side front door and window. Two small kids were in the vehicle when this all happened. They were not injured.
Centralia Police Investigations and Command were notified about the incident. The damaged vehicle was secured at the Centralia Police Department. The Illinois State Police Crime Scene Investigations Division was contacted. They processed the vehicle.
During the initial phase of this investigation, it was determined this incident happened in the 900 block of North Elm. Officers went to that area and located several shell casings. These shell casings were taken into evidence. Officers canvassed the area looking for witnesses and any possible video of the incident. Centralia Police detectives are currently following up on several leads.
