GOLCONDA – The Rural Pope County Fire Protection District announced on their Facebook page Tuesday night that they have terminated the search for 80-year-old Jerry Harris.
Officials say numerous man hours were spent, hundreds of acres have been walked and countless resources were provided to assist in the search for Harris but turned up nothing.
The search for Harris will not continue unless officials get any kind of information regarding his whereabouts.
This is a very unfortunate event that officials say are saddened to terminate but they’re just out of options at this point.
If the public would like to work something out with the family and continue the search effort, officials say that’s between you and the family and the Pope County Sheriff’s Office at this point moving forward.
Harris is described as a white male, standing 5’9” tall weighing 158 pounds. He has gray hair and is wearing a light green coat, blue jeans, gray tennis shoes, a camo hat and brown gloves. He was last seen on Ruby Yewell Road at 5:13 p.m. Monday. Harris has a condition that places him in danger.
Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Harris should contact the Pope County Sheriff’s Office at 618-683-4321 or call 911.
