METROPOLIS – A Metropolis man is facing charges after Metropolis Police were recently called to investigate a domestic disturbance.

Police say on Wednesday, Aug. 23, they spoke with the victim and noticed injuries to her neck and a cut on her leg. The victim told police she had been struck, choked and had her hair pulled by 51-year-old Ronald Shane Burton of Metropolis.

Police and the victim went to a home in the 300 block of West 8th Street and searched the home. They found Burton hiding in a corner covered up with a cardboard box. Burton refused several commands, and when he was taken into custody, he resisted efforts to be handcuffed.

Burton was arrested and charged with domestic battery and resisting arrest. Burton was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
